About the book: Kief loves exploring the rugged mountains around his home on his horse, Natch, with his best friend Tarc. But when his dead grandfather leaves him a mysterious map for his birthday, Kief is thrown into an adventure beyond even his imagination.  Pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a sea captain, he leaves home to attend the merchant academy on the coast.  There, extraordinary events unfold propelling Kief, along with his friends, and his map toward the perilous destiny.

Growing up, the author, David, spent much of his free time on his horse exploring the mountains and finding adventures to follow. After years in the business world, the joys of his younger years and his creative side continued to tug at him.  So David set off to write an epic adventure of a boy and his horse and created a story of freedom, adventure, love, courage, and sacrifice.
